Club One’s Transition
“While we look forward to the future, we do so with bittersweet hearts,” stated Club One, reflecting on its upcoming move after 38 years of operation at the corner of Jefferson and Bay Street in Savannah, Georgia.
The club, known as a safe space for the queer community, has been a cornerstone of support and celebration, hosting weddings, commitment ceremonies, and even funerals during the AIDS crisis. This relocation to 301 Williamson Street marks a significant transition for both the club and its patrons.
New Ownership and Future Commitment
Pride Holdings Group, LLC is the new owner of Club One, ensuring that the club’s legacy of inclusivity and safety will continue. “Our commitment to providing a safe, inclusive space for our community continues to be the foundation of who we are,” the club emphasized in its announcement.
Throughout the ‘90s, Club One became known as one of the very few safe spaces for the queer community in Southeast Georgia and South Carolina, solidifying its role as a vital resource and gathering place.
