New Leadership at Tranmere
“I’m delighted to be here. The opportunity to manage a massive club was too good to turn down,” said Pete Wild following his appointment as the new manager of Tranmere Rovers. Wild takes the helm at a challenging time for the club, which currently sits 19th in League Two, just seven points clear of the relegation zone.
Wild replaces Andy Crosby, who was dismissed after a dismal run of 10 defeats in 11 matches. The club’s recent struggles have raised concerns among fans and management alike, prompting the search for a new leader to steer the team back to stability.
Wild’s first match in charge will be against Fleetwood Town, a club he managed until January 2026. His experience in the managerial role is notable, having overseen more than 300 matches throughout his career, which began with Oldham Athletic in 2018.
Mark Palios, the club’s chairman, expressed confidence in Wild’s capabilities, stating, “Pete was the standout candidate – he has managed more than 300 matches and has shown the ability to improve the teams he has worked with.” This endorsement comes as Tranmere looks to regain its footing in the league.
Wild acknowledged the difficulties ahead, saying, “We’re in a tough predicament at the moment but I believe we can make progress and push forwards with the squad we have at the club.” His optimism is crucial as he prepares to lead a team that has faced significant challenges, including injuries that have plagued the squad.
In addition to Wild, Adam Temple will assist him, while Andy Parkinson will resume his role as first-team coach. This new management structure aims to bring fresh ideas and strategies to the team.
Before his tenure at Fleetwood, Wild spent three successful seasons at Halifax Town, where he achieved play-off positions twice in the National League. He later became the manager of Barrow in 2022, further solidifying his experience in football management.
As Tranmere Rovers looks to turn its fortunes around, Wild’s leadership will be closely watched by supporters and analysts alike. The upcoming match against Fleetwood Town will serve as an important test for the new manager and his strategies.
Details remain unconfirmed regarding any additional changes to the coaching staff or player roster as Wild settles into his new role.
