Maxx Crosby Trade Falls Through
The anticipated trade of Maxx Crosby from the Las Vegas Raiders to the Baltimore Ravens has collapsed, significantly impacting both teams’ strategies moving forward. The Ravens had agreed to send two first-round draft picks to the Raiders in exchange for the standout defensive player. However, the deal fell apart after Crosby failed a physical examination, a critical step required for the trade’s finalization.
Crosby, who underwent surgery in January to repair a torn meniscus in his left knee, has been recovering well and is reportedly ahead of schedule according to his agent, CJ LaBoy. Despite this positive news, the failed physical has raised questions about his readiness to contribute to a new team. The Ravens, who finished tied for 28th in the league in sacks last season with only 30, were counting on Crosby to bolster their defensive line and provide a significant upgrade.
Last season, Crosby recorded 10 sacks and a career-high 28 tackles for loss, showcasing his ability as one of the league’s premier defensive players. Over his seven-year career with the Raiders, he has accumulated 69.5 sacks and 133 tackles for loss, making him a highly sought-after asset. The Ravens had hoped that acquiring Crosby would be the missing piece to help them challenge for a Super Bowl title.
In March 2026, Crosby signed a three-year contract extension worth $106.5 million, solidifying his position as a cornerstone player for the Raiders. However, his frustration with the team grew after being placed on injured reserve in December, leading to speculation about his future with the organization. The Raiders currently hold the No. 1 pick in the upcoming draft and are expected to select Indiana quarterback Fernando Mendoza, indicating a potential shift in focus away from their defensive needs.
The Ravens had agreed to send the No. 14 pick in this year’s draft and their 2027 first-round pick to the Raiders for Crosby, a move that would have significantly altered their roster. The addition of Crosby was seen as a crucial step in their pursuit of a championship, but with the trade now off the table, the Ravens must reassess their options to improve their defense.
As the situation stands, it is unclear whether a Crosby deal can be revived in some form. The future of Crosby with the Raiders remains uncertain due to his injury history and the team’s current situation. Details remain unconfirmed regarding any potential next steps for both Crosby and the Ravens.
The Raiders have chosen not to comment further on the situation, stating, “We will have no further comment at this time.” Meanwhile, Crosby remains focused on his recovery and has expressed his commitment to bringing a championship to whichever team he plays for in the future.
