During the filming of Celebrity Hunted, Gu and Dowden faced numerous challenges that tested their relationship. Gu noted that they had repeated arguments throughout the process, stating, “We love each other, we hate each other.” Despite the tension, he emphasized that the experience ultimately strengthened their bond, saying, “We’ve become like brother and sister, and we’re more than just a friend.”
Gu, who previously won a Glitterball trophy on Strictly Come Dancing with partner Karen Carney, expressed excitement for the upcoming season of Celebrity Hunted, which will also feature other celebrities such as Brian Conley and Chris Taylor. The filming tested their bond under pressure, but Gu highlighted the kindness of the public during their journey, remarking, “The amount of people helping you in this journey, it really humbles you.”
