Stabbing Incident at Thorpe St Andrew School

A teenage girl was stabbed at Thorpe St Andrew School in Norwich at approximately 10:20am on March 11, 2026. The victim was taken to the hospital with minor injuries, while a 15-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

Following the incident, the school went into lockdown, which lasted for over an hour. Parents were informed and rushed to the school during this time, concerned for their children’s safety. Police established a cordon around the area where the suspect was apprehended.

The school, which serves students aged 11 to 18 and has a total of 1,834 pupils, was previously rated Good in its 2025 Ofsted inspection. This incident has left the community in shock, especially as the school had recently been the focus of a police investigation into alleged antisemitic abuse.

Owen Jenkins, from the Broad Horizons Education Trust, stated, “This has obviously been a distressing experience for our whole community.” Meanwhile, Norfolk County Councillor Ian Mackie expressed his concern, saying, “Our first thoughts are very much with the girl and her family, the whole community is shocked and will want to join me in sending our best wishes for her recovery from this traumatic experience.”

Students at the school voiced their fears, with one stating, “I am very scared,” while another added, “I just want to go home.” The Broad Horizons Education Trust has promised additional resources and counseling for affected students.

Details remain unconfirmed regarding the exact nature of the relationship between the victim and the suspect. The stabbing is not believed to be linked to the recent antisemitic hate crime at the school, but the community remains on edge as they await further information from authorities.
