Tottenham, facing relegation, saw their dismal 2026 season worsen as they failed to win for the 10th consecutive league match, while Fulham secured a well-deserved victory that enhanced their chances of qualifying for European competition.
In their match against Tottenham in November, Fulham struck early, scoring twice within the first six minutes to secure a 2-1 victory. This time, they once again took the lead quickly, with Harry Wilson finding the net in the seventh minute, marking his ninth goal of the season.
Nonetheless, the objective sparked debate as new Spurs manager Igor Tudor believed it should have been ruled out since home forward Raul Jimenez had pushed Radu Dragusin while contesting a cross from Kenny Tete, prior to Oscar Bobb finding Wilson, who volleyed in from six yards.
Last week, during their 4-1 defeat against Arsenal, Tottenham had a goal disallowed due to a foul by Randal Kolo Muani on Gunners defender Gabriel. However, after a review by video assistant referee (VAR) Craig Pawson, Fulham’s goal was permitted, much to Tudor’s outrage.
Spurs had no justifications for the second goal in the 34th minute, as Alex Iwobi found himself with ample space to strike brilliantly from 18 yards, with the ball deflecting in off the inside of the post following a clever interplay with Wilson.
Calvin Bassey had an opportunity to extend the lead to 3-0 but squandered it by shooting over the bar from a short distance just before halftime, while both Jimenez and Emile Smith Rowe also failed to capitalize on their chances.
In the 66th minute, Spurs narrowed the gap when substitute Richarlison scored with a header from Archie Gray’s cross delivered from the left flank.
Since Tudor took over from the dismissed Thomas Frank, they have now suffered defeats in both of their matches, allowing six goals during that span. The last time they experienced a 10-match winless streak in the league was at the beginning of 1994 under Ossie Ardiles.
Spurs, who have participated in the top tier of English football every season except for one in the old Second Division during 1977-78, currently sit in 16th place, just four points clear of the relegation zone with 10 matches remaining.
