Congratulations are reportedly in order for Hollywood superstars Zendaya and Tom Holland, who are thought to have married in a private ceremony.
The film stars first met back in 2016 when they were cast as Peter Parker and MJ in the new Spider-Man franchise, with their relationship blossoming off-screen.
Both stars have always been careful to keep their private lives private, but here’s what we know about their relationship timeline so far, with rumors of recent wedding bells.
Meeting on Spider-Man set: 2016
Zendaya and Holland met when they were cast as the leads in Marvel’s Spider-Man rebooted franchise.
They started filming Spider-Man: Homecoming in 2016, and the film was released in 2017, cementing their new friendship. They hadn’t started dating yet, but their on-screen chemistry would translate to real life.

Everyone else seemed to spot the potential for romance way before the co-stars, however – they were rumored to be dating during the press tour, which they laughed off.
Dating other people: 2019–2020
After promoting Spider-Man together, both stars moved on to new relationships.
Zendaya began a romance with Wuthering Heights star Jacob Elordi, with whom she had appeared alongside in Euphoria, while Holland was in a relationship with Nadia Parkes (best known for TV series Kidnapped: The Chloe Ayling Story), even spending the early days of the pandemic isolating together.

Spotted together: 2021
By July 2021, it appeared Zendaya and Holland’s relationship had changed when they were photographed in LA kissing in a car as they waited at a red light. A month after that, they attended a friend’s wedding together and, in September, Holland posted a sweet birthday message about Zendaya on Instagram.
But by the end of the year, Holland made it clear they were in a relationship while also telling GQ magazine how much they resented press intrusion.

Talking about being papped kissing in the car, he said: “One of the downsides of our fame is that privacy isn’t really in our control anymore, and a moment that you think is between two people that love each other very much is now a moment that is shared with the entire world. I’ve always been really adamant to keep my private life private, because I share so much of my life with the world anyway. We sort of felt robbed of our privacy.”
He added that he wouldn’t speak any further on their relationship: “It’s not a conversation that I can have without her. You know, I respect her too much to say … This isn’t my story. It’s our story. And we’ll talk about what it is when we’re ready to talk about it together.”
Low-key appearances: 2022–2023
The couple are spotted out together a number of times, including at a birthday dinner for Zendaya in New York in 2022, and shopping and enjoying dinner together in London in 2023.
Later in 2023, they took a week-long trip to India together and, upon returning to the UK, toured Hampton Court Palace.

Zendaya told The Sun: “I love the British accent, but as much as Tom tries to explain it to me, I will never understand rhyming slang. Like I understand the concept – but what do apples and pears have to do with stairs? It’s cute when he tells me all the different phrases – but I really don’t get it!”
They also took a romantic trip to Venice together and were seen enjoying dates at a Usher concert and an NBA game.
Tom Holland gives rare insight into Zendaya relationship: 2023
Speaking to Buzzfeed, Holland gave a rare acknowledgment of his romance with Zendaya as he spoke about his lack of “rizz” – a slang term meaning flirting ability.
He said: “I have no rizz whatsoever. I have limited rizz. I need you to fall in love with me, really, for it to work. So, long game. Probably making a movie with each other. Definitely helps when the characters you’re playing are falling in love with one another – you can sort of blur the lines a little bit. That’s kind of where my rizz is at. And I’m, you know, I’m locked up, so I’m happy and in love. So I’ve got no need for rizz.”

In her own Buzzfeed interview the following year, Dune star Zendaya added: “Rizz is short for charisma, right? Everybody’s kind of got their own. I think someone who has beautiful charisma, not on the Dune cast, but I personally – works for me – is Mr Tom Holland.”
The couple doesn’t often appear on red carpets together, but in 2024, Holland joined Zendaya for her Challengers premiere.
Zendaya’s engagement ring debut: January 2025
At the 2025 Golden Globes, all eyes were on Zendaya’s ring finger as she debuted a sparkling engagement ring.
Holland reportedly proposed between Christmas and New Year, and his dad later spilled some details in a Patreon post.

“Tom, as you know by now, was very incredibly well-prepared,” he wrote. “He had purchased a ring. He had spoken with her father and gained permission to propose to his daughter. Tom had everything planned out… When, where, how, what to say, what to wear.”
They continued working together during 2025 on Spider-Man: Brand New Day, due to be released in July 2026.
In January 2026, Zendaya told The Mirror about working with Holland: “Honestly, I know people might think it’s awkward, [but] he is my favourite person to work with. On set he has this huge calming presence that not only puts me at ease but also everybody he works with. I might be a little biased but he is not only my favourite person, he is my favourite person to work with.”
Wedding rumours: March 2026

The couple has often spoken about their need for privacy in their personal lives, and it seems they may now have pulled off that rarest of feats: a secret celebrity wedding.
Zendaya’s long-time stylist Law Roach appears to have let the cat out of the bag at the Actor Awards on Sunday, 1 March, telling reporters on the red carpet: “The wedding has already happened. You missed it,” adding: “It’s very true.”
It would be no surprise if the pair had opted for a secret ceremony, but neither Zendaya nor Holland has commented yet to confirm or deny the rumors.
