Baywatch Star Alexandra Paul Arrested During Animal Rights Protest

“We did what we believed was necessary to bring the dogs to safety after authorities declined to intervene,” stated Wayne Hsiung, a representative of the activist group Direct Action Everywhere, following a protest at Ridglan Farms in Wisconsin.

On March 15, 2026, Alexandra Paul, the former Baywatch star, was among 20 animal rights protesters arrested for allegedly freeing 30 beagles from the facility, which is known for breeding dogs for scientific research. The Dane County Sheriff’s Office reported that between 50 and 60 protesters entered the breeding facility.

Footage from the protest showed activists breaking into the facility while dressed in protective gear. Police seized two vehicles and tools such as sledgehammers and electric saws at the scene. Authorities also intercepted eight dogs from the protesters.

Paul, who has a history of involvement in animal rights activism, was charged with misdemeanor trespassing. This incident marks a continuation of her activism, as she was previously charged with misdemeanor theft in 2021 for taking chickens from a truck but was found not guilty.

The protest was fueled by ongoing concerns regarding animal welfare at Ridglan Farms, which has previously denied allegations of animal abuse. The facility has agreed to stop selling dogs purposefully bred for biomedical research by July 1 of this year.

Kalvin Barrett, the Dane County Sheriff, acknowledged the protesters’ passion, stating, “The Dane County Sheriff’s Office understands how deeply people feel for the beagles at Ridglan Farms, and we respect their right to express that passion through peaceful protests.” He added, “Our role is to keep everyone safe and to respond when unlawful activity takes place.”

In a statement, the Dane County Sheriff’s Office confirmed, “All of the animals that were taken have been recovered and none of the animals have been injured.” This assurance comes as the community continues to grapple with the implications of the protest and the treatment of animals at the facility.

As the situation develops, further statements from both the activists and the authorities are expected, shedding light on the ongoing debate surrounding animal rights and research practices.
