Nikola Tsolov Triumphs in F2 Feature Race in Melbourne
Nikola Tsolov emerged victorious in the Feature Race at the first Formula 2 event of the 2026 season, held on March 8 in Melbourne, Australia. Tsolov’s performance was marked by a commanding lead, finishing the race ahead of his competitors with a time that secured him the top spot on the podium.
Rafael Camara followed closely behind, finishing second, just 1.669 seconds off Tsolov’s pace. Laurens van Hoepen rounded out the podium in third place, crossing the finish line 3.517 seconds after Tsolov. During the Sprint Race, Duerksen highlighted the importance of a good Safety Car restart, stating, “Luckily, I managed to have a good Safety Car restart, I think I broke the one-second gap just before T1 already.” His strategy paid off, allowing him to maintain his position and secure the win.
Reflecting on the day’s events, Duerksen noted, “It’s the Sprint Race, the main goal is to have this kind of victory spot on the Feature Race, that’s the target and I think we will have to pace for it.” His comments underline the competitive nature of the series and the drivers’ aspirations for the remainder of the season.
