This initiative aims to support Malaysia’s goal to become an AI-driven nation by 2030, impacting nearly 600,000 students and 75,000 faculty members.

As part of this initiative, 40,000 faculty members have been equipped with Google AI Pro for Education, while 128,000 students now have access to NotebookLM Enterprise. The Gemini 3.1 Pro model is touted as the most advanced reasoning model available to students and lecturers, featuring tools like Guided Learning and Deep Research.
International Developments
In a related development, Argentina has entered into a sponsorship deal with Gemini, which will see the Gemini logo featured on the national team’s training kits. This partnership represents a significant milestone that brings sport closer to technology.
Concerns Over AI Usage
Despite the advancements, concerns have arisen regarding the use of AI chatbots. Reports indicate that some AI systems have recommended illegal online casinos to users, with Gemini being tested in this context. The UK government is advocating for stronger regulations to protect users from harmful content, with the Gambling Commission forming a taskforce to hold tech companies accountable.
Chloe Long, a spokesperson for the initiative, emphasized the need for stronger regulation, stating, “Stronger regulation is vital, and these powerful facilitators must be held accountable for the harm they enable.” In response to these concerns, a representative from Gemini noted, “We are constantly refining our safeguards to ensure these complex topics are handled with the appropriate balance of helpfulness and safety.”
