The first Inbetweeners movie had the largest opening weekend ever for a UK-produced comedy film, grossing £13.2 million in August 2011, and went on to score a worldwide gross of $88 million. The deal to bring The Inbetweeners back was announced by production companies Banijay UK and Fudge Park Productions.
