Jack Colback Announces Retirement

Jack Colback has announced his retirement from professional football at the age of 36. The midfielder concluded his career after making a total of 480 professional club appearances, a significant achievement in the sport.

Colback’s career spanned several clubs, including Sunderland, Newcastle United, Nottingham Forest, Ipswich Town, and most recently, Queens Park Rangers. He made 135 appearances for Sunderland and 102 for Newcastle United, showcasing his skills in the Premier League.

During his time in the Premier League, Colback made 189 appearances, scoring 9 goals and providing 11 assists. His contributions were vital to the teams he played for, including being part of Sunderland’s squad that reached the Carabao Cup final in the 2013-14 season.

In addition to his club achievements, Colback was capped once by England’s under-20s in 2009 and received a call-up to the senior England squad in August 2014, although he had to withdraw due to injury.

Colback joined Nottingham Forest initially on loan before making a permanent transfer in 2020. He later joined Queens Park Rangers in the summer of 2023, where he made 53 appearances.
