“Our investment in the UK and across Europe is focused on ensuring that when a customer clicks ‘buy’, they know the product will be delivered to their door with the quality, speed and reliability they deserve,” a Joybuy spokesperson stated during the launch announcement.

JD.com has officially launched its Joybuy online marketplace across the UK and five other European markets, including Germany, France, the Netherlands, Belgium, and Luxembourg. This move marks a significant step in JD.com’s strategy to expand its European presence.

The platform offers a wide variety of products across categories such as technology, home appliances, beauty, groceries, and household goods, with an initial catalogue of 30,000 items. This diverse offering aims to cater to the needs of a broad customer base.

Joybuy is distinguished by its same-day delivery service, which is available for eligible orders through its ‘Double 11’ service. More than 17 million people across 4.5 million households in the UK are covered by this delivery option, making it a standard rather than a luxury, according to the spokesperson.

“With Joybuy, same-day delivery isn’t a luxury; it’s our standard for millions of households,” the spokesperson added, highlighting the company’s commitment to efficient service.

To facilitate this rapid delivery, JD.com operates over 60 warehouses and depots across Europe, including self-managed warehouses in Milton Keynes and Luton, which together exceed 90,000 square metres in area.

Customers can also take advantage of the Joybuy Pick-up Service, which allows them to collect parcels from over 11,000 pick-up points across the UK, enhancing convenience for shoppers.

“This is a major milestone in our mission to bring a wide selection of quality, well-known brands, delivered efficiently and quickly to our customers in Europe,” said a representative from JD.com.

Joybuy does not operate as an open marketplace but instead resells products purchased from partners, ensuring a curated shopping experience for its users.

As Joybuy begins its operations, it is poised to challenge established players like Amazon by offering competitive pricing and delivery options. The company aims to eliminate the trade-off between price and speed that British shoppers have often faced.

Details remain unconfirmed regarding future expansions or additional features that may be introduced as Joybuy continues to grow its presence in the competitive e-commerce landscape.
