Newcastle United has agreed to a £6 million-a-year sponsorship deal with KNOX Hydration, marking a significant step in the club’s commercial strategy. The three-year agreement, totaling £18 million, will see KNOX Hydration’s branding featured on the shirt sleeve of Newcastle’s training kits.
Starting on July 1, 2026, and expiring in 2029, the partnership will also result in the renaming of the Darsley Park training ground to The KNOX. This deal represents the first major commercial agreement under Chief Executive David Hopkinson, who expressed enthusiasm about the partnership.
“We are thrilled to welcome KNOX Hydration as a world-class partner,” said Hopkinson. He emphasized that the collaboration is not merely a branding exercise but a performance-led partnership that aims to support the community as well.
KNOX Hydration, a South African sports drinks company, is not affiliated with Newcastle’s majority owners, Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF). The partnership will allow KNOX Hydration’s products to be available across all levels of the club, further integrating the brand into Newcastle’s operations.
Newcastle’s commercial revenue has seen a remarkable increase of 44%, rising to £120.1 million for the 2024-25 financial year. The club’s overall turnover for the same season was reported at £335.3 million, highlighting the financial growth and potential for further sponsorship opportunities.
As part of its ongoing strategy, Newcastle United is actively seeking a front-of-training-wear sponsor, indicating a continued focus on enhancing its commercial partnerships.
John Schaefer, a representative from KNOX Hydration, remarked, “Just as importantly, the club’s dedicated fan base and the strong sense of community that surrounds Newcastle United make this partnership especially meaningful.” He also noted, “We’re excited to grow together and be part of that journey both on and off the pitch.”
This sponsorship deal marks Newcastle United’s first-ever training ground and training-kit sleeve sponsorship, setting a precedent for future collaborations in the sports industry.
Details remain unconfirmed regarding any additional plans or future partnerships that may arise from this agreement.
