Maya Rudolph, a comedian best known for her years on Saturday Night Live, presented awards at the 2026 Academy Awards, which honored the best films of 2025. This year’s Oscars were hosted by Conan O’Brien and took place in Los Angeles.
Rudolph arrived separately from her partner, Paul Thomas Anderson, who won best director, best adapted screenplay, and best picture for his film One Battle After Another. This film is a loose adaptation of Thomas Pynchon‘s 1990 novel Vineland and received a total of 13 nominations at the ceremony.
Anderson, who has been nominated for an Oscar 14 times previously, expressed his gratitude during his acceptance speech, stating, “I’m incredibly honoured to be part of this history.” He also shared a personal note, saying, “I wrote this movie for my kids, to say sorry for the housekeeping mess that we left in this world we’re handing off to them.”
Rudolph, who wore a tiered black dress by Chanel adorned with speckled sequins and black feathers, was joined on stage by the cast of her comedy Bridesmaids to present awards. The couple has four children together: Pearl, Lucille, Jack, and Minnie.
Reflecting on their long relationship, Anderson remarked, “Happy Anniversary, Maya,” highlighting the 24 years since they first met.
As the night unfolded, it was clear that the couple’s contributions to cinema continue to resonate with audiences and critics alike. Observers noted that Anderson’s film, which won a total of six prizes, showcases his unique storytelling ability and dedication to his craft.
Looking ahead, it is anticipated that both Rudolph and Anderson will continue to make significant impacts in the film industry, with Rudolph recently announcing her role in the Broadway show Oh, Mary! in the titular role.
