Savannah Guthrie has given her first interview since the abduction of her mother, Nancy Guthrie, who was kidnapped from her Arizona home on February 1. During the emotional interview, Savannah expressed the family’s anguish and desperation for information regarding her mother’s whereabouts.
Bloodstains found at the scene of the abduction have been confirmed to belong to Nancy, who is currently 84 years old. The Guthrie family has taken significant steps to aid in the search for Nancy, including a donation of $500,000 to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children and a $1 million reward for information that could assist in her recovery.
The interview, which will air in two parts on Thursday and Friday, marks Savannah’s first appearance on the Today show since January 30, a full 30 days prior. Savannah described the ongoing situation as unbearable, stating, “I wake up every night, in the middle of the night, every night, and in the darkness, I imagine her terror.”
In her plea for help, Savannah urged anyone with information to come forward, emphasizing that “no detail is too small” and could potentially be the key to finding her mother. The FBI has also released images and a video of an armed individual captured at Nancy’s property, which they hope will lead to new leads in the case.
“Someone needs to do the right thing. We are in agony. It is unbearable,” Savannah added, highlighting the emotional toll this situation has taken on her family. The family has made an emotional appeal to their mother’s neighbors, asking them to share any information that might assist in the investigation.
As the search continues, the community is urged to remain vigilant, as it is possible that someone may have information that they do not even realize is significant.
