The government has granted new powers for renewable electricity proposals across land managed by Forestry England. In light of this, Forestry England is looking into developing an onshore wind farm in Northumberland. This project is in its very early stages and seeks interest from experienced developers.
Energy generated from the proposed wind farm would be used on site and sold to the national grid, potentially contributing to the region’s renewable energy supply. This initiative aligns with broader efforts to enhance renewable energy infrastructure in the UK.
In a related development, RenewableUK has welcomed a trial scheme aimed at offering consumers lower electricity bills on windy days. This scheme is expected to provide a 60 percent reduction in constraint costs, benefiting both consumers and the energy system.
Steven Agnew, a representative from RenewableUK, stated, “Offering people lower electricity bills when there’s an abundance of renewable power is a welcome step which shows how wind can help drive down bills and make good use of a flexible energy system.” This highlights the potential economic advantages of harnessing wind energy effectively.
Meanwhile, in the realm of visual effects, Sony Pictures is winding down Pixomondo, a visual effects and virtual production company that specializes in visualization, virtual production, and VFX for various titles. Pixomondo operates seven creative studios and four LED volumes across the US, UK, Germany, and Canada.
The developments in both renewable energy and visual effects industries reflect significant shifts in their respective sectors. As Forestry England moves forward with its wind farm proposal, it will be crucial to monitor the responses from potential developers and the local community.
Details remain unconfirmed regarding the timeline for the wind farm project and the specific developers that may express interest. However, the initiative is poised to contribute to the UK’s renewable energy goals.
