New Manchester United Show Announced
Wayne Rooney, former Manchester United captain, is set to co-host a new show dedicated to the club this season. The programme, titled Stick to United with Wayne Rooney, will feature Rooney alongside influencer Mark Goldbridge. This new venture is part of a broader distribution agreement with Disney+, which will broadcast 50 episodes of the show during the upcoming 2026/2027 football season.
The show aims to provide fans with expert insight, honest opinions, and in-depth discussions on the key talking points surrounding Manchester United. It will analyse the team’s latest results and performances, offering detailed commentary from both Rooney and Goldbridge.
Gary Neville, another former Manchester United player, founded The Overlap in 2021. Earlier this year, Neville acquired Goldbridge’s YouTube channels, including The United Stand and That’s Football, integrating them into The Overlap network. Rooney is already a regular pundit on The Overlap’s Stick to Football show, making this new co-hosting role a natural progression within the network.

Partnership with Disney+ and The Overlap
The collaboration between The Overlap and Disney+ extends beyond the new Manchester United-focused show. Disney+ has secured a one-year exclusive agreement to be the headline sponsor for both Stick to Football and Stick to United with Wayne Rooney. This deal includes the commissioning of exclusive episodes and companion content for the streaming platform.
Stick to Football, hosted by Gary Neville, Jamie Carragher, Jill Scott, Ian Wright, and Roy Keane, will also see 40 new episodes available on Disney+. Some of these episodes, specifically 20, will be exclusive to Disney+ for a limited period. Additionally, Disney+ has commissioned an extra 6 exclusive episodes of Stick to Football from the UK, featuring special guests.
Stick to United with Wayne Rooney is scheduled to debut weekly from Tuesday, 18 August, while Stick to Football will be available weekly from Thursday, 20 August, on Disney+ in the UK and Ireland. Both shows will also be accessible on existing streaming platforms and The Overlap’s YouTube channels, with extended content for Stick to United with Wayne Rooney being exclusive to Disney+.

Expansion and Fan Engagement
Gary Neville, co-host and co-chair of The Overlap, stated that the partnership with Disney+ expands their reach without compromising their identity. He highlighted that their community will continue to access content via YouTube, while Disney+’s global audience will also be able to discover and enjoy it. The Overlap, which Neville founded in 2021, has expanded its coverage to include other sports like cricket and rugby.
Mark Goldbridge, whose real name is Brent di Cesare, has a significant online presence with over 3.8 million followers across his two YouTube channels. His videos are known for their viral clips, often featuring his reactions and football opinions. Goldbridge expressed his excitement about working with Wayne Rooney, calling it a historic milestone for fan-led media.
Wayne Rooney also commented on the new show, noting that having worked with Gary Neville, Roy Keane, Jamie Carragher, Ian Wright, and Jill Scott on previous shows, co-hosting a new programme entirely dedicated to Manchester United felt like a natural progression. He expressed his delight to co-host Stick to United with Mark Goldbridge, which will be available on The United Stand and Disney+.
In addition to his new role, Wayne Rooney will continue his punditry on Match of the Day, and The Wayne Rooney Show is set to return to BBC platforms this season.
