Catherine, Princess of Wales, will visit Reggio Emilia for her first official overseas trip since undergoing treatment for cancer. The visit underscores her commitment to early childhood development, a key focus of her advocacy work.
Before this visit, Catherine had not traveled abroad officially for 3.5 years. She announced her remission from cancer in January 2025. This trip marks a significant moment in her return to public life.
The visit will center on the Reggio Emilia approach, which emphasizes child-led learning and the importance of nurturing environments. This educational philosophy aligns with the objectives of the Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood, launched in 2021.
Catherine has three children: Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. Her personal experiences as a mother influence her advocacy for early childhood education. She aims to raise awareness about the importance of quality early experiences for children.
In addition to her visit, AC Milan recently faced Sassuolo in a match held in Reggio Emilia. The final score was 0-2, with goals scored by Berardi and Laurienté. Tomori received a red card during the game, further complicating matters for AC Milan.
A spokesperson from Kensington Palace stated, “The princess is very much looking forward to visiting Italy next week and seeing first-hand how the Reggio Emilia approach creates environments where nature and loving human relationships come together to support children’s development.” This reflects Catherine’s belief in the interconnectedness of relationships and child development.
Catherine emphasizes that “the quality of our connections – with ourselves, with others and with the world around us – shapes how safe we feel,” highlighting her dedication to fostering supportive environments for children.
