										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Sam Vokes concluded his professional career with a guard of honour and a victory in <strong>Gillingham F.C.</strong>&#8216;s last match of the season on May 6, 2025, at Priestfield Stadium. The team faced Shrewsbury Town and secured a 1-0 win.</p>
<p>Garath McCleary scored the only goal of the match from 25 yards. This victory marked the end of the 2025/26 season for Gillingham, allowing Vokes to retire on a high note. He expressed pride in his achievements, stating, &#8220;I am proud of what I have achieved.&#8221;</p>
<p>During the match, Vokes received a guard of honour from his teammates. He reflected on his time with the club, saying, &#8220;It has been a joy being a part of this squad this year.&#8221; Vokes made a total of 751 appearances throughout his career.</p>
