Hyderabad Kingsmen secured a thrilling two-run victory over Islamabad United at Gaddafi Stadium, propelling them into the PSL 2026 final against Peshawar Zalmi. Hunain Shah’s remarkable last over proved crucial in this tightly contested match.
Hyderabad Kingsmen scored 186 for 5 runs. Islamabad United managed 184 for 7 runs. Usman Khan was instrumental, scoring an unbeaten 61 runs off just 30 balls. Kusal Perera contributed with a quick-fire 37 runs off 21 balls.
The match took a dramatic turn when Hyderabad Kingsmen found themselves at 85 for 4 in just over eleven overs. However, they recovered well to post a competitive total.
In the final over, Islamabad United needed six runs to win. Yet, Hunain Shah delivered an impressive performance, conceding only three runs to seal the victory for his team.
Mark Chapman was the standout performer for Islamabad United, scoring 43 runs off 26 balls. Despite their efforts, they fell short by two runs.
Marnus Labuschagne expressed his excitement after the match, stating, “I don’t have words to describe what we’ve done today.” He added that it seemed like they were going to win comfortably until the tense finish.
Labuschagne also praised Hunain Shah’s performance, saying, “It looked like we were going to win relatively comfortably and then all of a sudden it looked like it’s over (but) Hunain Shah stepped in and goes for, what, three in the last over to win the game … I’ve got goosebumps just talking about it.”
Hyderabad Kingsmen have now won seven of their last eight matches. Their resilience has been notable following a rough start where they lost their first four matches.
The next challenge will be against Peshawar Zalmi in the final of PSL 2026. Fans eagerly await this exciting matchup.
