Silent Tactic’s withdrawal due to a foot injury opens the door for Great White to compete in the prestigious Kentucky Derby on May 2, 2026, at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky.
The race will feature 20 horses competing for a total purse of $5 million. Renegade is currently the favorite with odds of 4-1. The post time is set for 6:57 p.m. ET.
Great White will take Silent Tactic’s place following an announcement from trainer Mark Casse. Casse explained, “You can’t run in the Kentucky Derby and not be 100%.” He added that the injury is very slight, which he considers good news.
Bob Baffert, a well-known figure in horse racing, has won the Kentucky Derby a record-tying six times. The event is often called “the most exciting two minutes in sports” and is the first leg of horse racing’s Triple Crown.
