The MacBook Neo is celebrated for its remarkable performance and affordability, challenging perceptions of entry-level Macs. This new model is based on an iPhone chip and runs full macOS.
The MacBook Neo is priced starting at £599. It stands out for its portability and suitability for travel. Users have noted its ability to handle 10-bit 4K video editing, albeit with some limitations.
In contrast, the MacBook Air M5 was purchased for $1,499 / £1,499 / AU$2,399. It features a default RAM of 16GB, which can be upgraded to 24GB. The base SSD is 512GB but can also be upgraded to 1TB.
The MacBook Air M5 significantly improves performance for demanding tasks compared to older Intel-based models. For instance, it boots up in 30 seconds and opens apps in under a second. Photoshop opens within 10 seconds on the Air M5, compared to a minute on older models.
One user remarked, “I’ve finally ditched my old Intel-based MacBook Pro for the new MacBook Air M5 and it’s like trading in a moped for a superbike.” Another stated, “This Mac has changed everything all over again!”
The MacBook Neo is described as one of Apple’s finest products. It is considered a proper Mac despite its lower price point. Apple has transitioned from Intel-based chipsets to its own silicon in recent years, enhancing overall performance.
