A drive-by shooting occurred in Brixton on May 2, 2026, injuring four people during a suspected barbecue party. The shooting took place on Coldharbour Lane at approximately 1:15 AM.
One victim, a 25-year-old man, is in a life-threatening condition. The other three victims, aged 21, 47, and 70, suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Police received reports of gunfire at 1:14 AM and responded promptly to the scene.
Detectives from the Metropolitan Police are working to identify those responsible for this act of indiscriminate violence. They have collected CCTV footage from a nearby supermarket as part of their investigation. No arrests have been made as of the latest reports.
A trauma team from the London Ambulance Service was dispatched to assist the injured. Local residents expressed concern about safety in the area following this incident. Robert, an estate resident, stated, “I usually feel safe around here; people know each other and get on.” In contrast, shopkeeper Moh John reported hearing the gunfire while attending to his business.
The police have appealed for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward. DCI Allam Bhangoo reassured residents, saying, “We understand how concerning this incident will be for the local community and want to reassure residents that officers are working at pace to identify those responsible.”
